Bio-Rad‘s dear Co-founder and chairman of the board, David Schwartz, passed away on April 1. He was 88.

Mr. Schwartz, who will be remembered as always sporting a cowboy style string tie, co-founded Bio-Rad Laboratories with his wife Alice in 1952 and served at its helm for over 45 years. He remained Chairman of the Board until he died.

Dave helped the company grow from its humble roots selling tobacco mosaic virus in a California hut into the $2 Billion life science supplier giant it is today.

Rest in Peace Dave. We will sure miss you.
