Life Sciences Ontario Elects Paul Lucas as New President & Chair
TORONTO, ON – (April 19, 2012) – Life Sciences Ontario (LSO) announced today that the board of directors have elected Paul Lucas as the new President and Chair of LSO. Paul has most recently served as CEO of GlaxoSmithKline Canada and is a tireless advocate for the entire life sciences sector. Paul is an active member of numerous boards and organizations, including being a co-chair for the Coalition for Action on Innovation with the honourable John Manley. Together, they led the development of the Action Plan for Prosperity; a concise report with policy recommendations designed to help support Canada as a global leader in innovation.

Paul will be replacing outgoing President and Chair, Jason Locklin, who will remain active on the LSO board. During his tenure, Jason demonstrated exceptional leadership and built a stable foundation for LSO to continue evolving in its mandate as the voice for life sciences in Ontario; including the signing of a historic memorandum of understanding with BiopolisQuébec in support of the Ontario- Québec Life Sciences Corridor.

“We are very pleased to have Paul joining LSO” said Jason Field, Executive Director of LSO. “His experienced leadership and dedication to the life sciences sector will help LSO continue its evolution as an organization while continuing to deliver value for all of our members.”


Life Sciences Ontario (LSO) is a member-driven organization that represents and promotes the province’s vibrant and diverse life sciences sector. LSO collaborates with governments, academia, industry and other life science organizations in Ontario and across Canada to promote and encourage commercial success throughout this diverse sector. We do this through advocacy, facilitation of economic development, promotion of our industry locally, nationally and internationally and by bringing life sciences stakeholders together through numerous networking events. LSO is the Voice for Life Sciences in Ontario.
