From Sun News:
Flu season has arrived in Canada, and this year’s strain is more severe and is hitting Canadians harder than in previous years.
In the first reporting week of the year – Dec. 30 to Jan. 5 – there were 107 flu outbreaks reported to the
Public Health Agency of Canada, and a total of 3,864 lab-confirmed cases nationwide.
That number is much higher than in recent years: For the first reporting week of 2012, the total number of lab-confirmed cases was 109, and in 2011 it was 1,879.
