Mount Sinai and U of T to explore impact of gut bacteria on health and disease

Scientists from Mount Sinai Hospital in the University of Toronto will be collaborating on the role microorganisms play in chronic conditions such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Housing the initiative at Mount Sinai Hospital, will be Canada’s largest clinical research unit focused on this debilitating disease that affects 1 in 150 Canadians. The new facility will be funded in part by $6 million grant from the Canadian foundation for innovation supporting the University of Toronto’s new Host-Microbiome Network.
