Exclusive Photos of the Day Einstein Died

We came across this never-released photo gallery of the day Einstein Died. Lots of history, a glimpse of genius and some interesting factoids.
For example, did you know that photographer Ralph Morse was able to gain access to Einstein’s Princeton office after his death by bribing the building’s superintendent with 1/5th of a bottle of scotch? Or that the pictures were never published, despite the sure revenue that publishing them would generate for Life magazine, at the family’s request and out of respect for their privacy (that would never happen today)?
Below are 2 photo galleries from Life. The first one contains the exclusive pictures of the day of his death. The second gallery has other interesting photos taken throughout Einstein’s lifetime. There are more interesting facts there as well. Did you know that Einstein never wore socks because he knew that big toes eventually put holes in them (a very practical man)? How about the fact that Einstein was an avid sailor despite never learning how to swim?
Anyhow, whatever your reason for browsing these photos…enjoy! They are fun! Clink for more: http://www.life.com/image/ugc1039332/in-gallery/41842
